Forest Conservation

Due to high population growth, indiscriminate deforestation, mono plantation of teak tree species as well as exotic species and over extraction of natural forest resources in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) the overall biodiversity and watershed condition is alarming decreasing day by day. If this situation continues for long the lives and livelihood of the grass roots
communities would have been impacted badly. Already rural people are suffering from acute scarcity of drinkable water. Hill springs are the
main water sources for hilly areas dwelling people.

The inland water bodies is mainly the kaptai
lake. The water of kaptai lake does not spread
to the every corners of the CHT. This water flow
is only running in its own particulars path way
or areas. That’s why a large portion of people
depend on hill springs which are originated
from the natural forest. Apart from this, in most
parts of the CHT the underground water
cannot extract throughinstalling tube well or
other water technology as there are solid rock
embedded underneath the soil.In view of this
fact Hill Flower has given more important to
conserve the natural forest and improvement
of water shed management through adopting
various awareness raising activities such as
developing poster, leaflet and installation of bill
board in the public places containing with
relevant messages related to forest and
biodiversity conservation in the Chittagong Hill
Tracts.
